作者秀仙(砂子澤三郎)，是日本鐵壺的第一個「傳統工藝士」。這個銜頭是日本為振興傳統工藝，於是頒给各門工藝的傑出人士，用以提升他們在社會上的地位。鐵瓶的名額，第一個便給了秀仙，當然是表揚他的卓越工藝(更可能是因為尊重他是當時業界年纪最大的)。後來陸續頒發給其他人，但始終不能超越他這個第一的銜頭了。所以秀仙的鐵壺是珍貴的！
秀仙活躍於二戰前後。款式新穎，壺作砂鐵比例高，扣音清亮。此壺當為五六十年代之作。
The kettle maker Shusen (Saburo Isagozawa), was the very first artisan to be named a "Traditional Craftsman" (Dentō Kōgeishi) for Japanese iron kettles. This title was established by Japan to revitalize traditional crafts, awarded to outstanding individuals in various fields to elevate their social status. In the realm of Tetsubin (iron kettles), this top honor was first bestowed upon Shusen—undoubtedly in recognition of his superb craftsmanship, though likely also out of respect for his status as the eldest member of the industry at the time. While others were subsequently awarded the title, none could ever eclipse his distinction of being the very first. Consequently, Shusen’s iron kettles are highly prized and precious!
Shusen was active around the World War II era. His designs are innovative, and his kettles feature a high proportion of satetsu (iron sand), which produces a clear, resonant ring when tapped. This particular kettle is estimated to be a piece from the 1950s or 1960s.
